QotD: What Blogging Means
What are the positive and negative associations that you and those around you have with blogging? Have attitudes changed over time?
I've kinda latched onto blogging because I find it useful for me to write to get my thoughts and emotions out. I've had a LiveJournal since 2002, and back then, I used to blog in order to keep my friends updated on my life.
That's really changed now. I'm more of a personal blogger. I write for myself, and anyone who reads it who can relate . . .well that's just icing on the cake. I keep my entries public even when I write personal stuff, mostly because in my head, I figure no one's reading my blog except for a very small group of friends.
As I've found out from random comments and messages from people, that's not the case. At the same time, I haven't changed the way I blog. If there's something that I feel like I shouldn't say, I won't say it. But I don't hold back just because I worry about someone reading something of mine.
Vox is a good community, too. I've never really gotten any random comments from strangers on LiveJournal. But here, people seem to find me. It also helps that we can easily integrate music and video into our posts. I can't tell you how easy it is to convey my emotions and feelings by playing a song form someone who can put it into words much better than I can.
