QotD: Taking A Leap
What's a leap of faith to you? Have you ever taken one?
To me, a leap of faith is putting all of your trust in something (usually an action of some sort) that has an unknown outcome.
I took a leap of faith in May of 2005. At that point, Rocio and I had been in a long distance relationship for a little less than 3 years. I had a choice to make. We couldn't do it long-distance any longer. It was either cut our losses and break up or move to South Dakota, not knowing what would become of us if I did. We'd never actually been in a position where we could be a real couple, other than the two week visits we'd have every two or three months.
So I left everything that was comfortable to me: my friends, my family, my job, my life in New York. And I went to South Dakota. I knew Rocio, her brother, and her family. That is all. I knew that I had a job waiting for me, which was a plus. I also knew that I could go to school. I had no idea what would happen to Rocio and I. That is where the faith came in. I had faith that we would be okay. That our relationship apart was strong enough to help us get to the point of being together.
Although it didn't work out, I still don't regret going to South Dakota. I loved my time there. I gained amazing memories and experiences.
That is what I feel is a leap of faith.
